Of summer that is...and what an event filled summer it has been! We moved into a new house (pics soon I promise- we are just finishing up the kitchen soffit), started a new job, celebrated our first birthday, and learned to walk- what a fabulous past few months!
We spent our afternoon at the Webster pool- our last trip of the summer I'm afraid! Parker is so fearless it amazes me- when he wants something or wants to do something he just goes for it, really goes for it. Today he walked all the way into the pool up to his chest and then decided he wanted to put his face in the water. He leaned forward and submerged himself. I waited for him to come up gasping for air, scared senseless, but instead he stood up, laughed and dunked again...and again, and again, and again. Unbelievable. All the parents were watching in awe as our little boy (well not so little at a whopping 28 pounds- the pediatrician said he "is the size of a large 2 year old") dunked himself over and over and loved every second of it. Parker is also becoming quite a ladies man. Today at the pool there was a little girl playing about 15 feet away and over the course of about ten minutes Parker scooted himself closer and closer until he reached out touched her and then totally started flirting with her! Sometimes I look at my children and am in awe at the little people they are becoming...
I know, I know, I promised (my Dad) I would not talk politics on 'my children's blog.' I can't help it. My stomach has butterflies and I can't stop smiling. SARAH PALIN our next Vice President?! What an incredible moment in American history...a pro-choice, pro-life, pro-family values WOMAN to be second in command?! Unbelievable!!! I'm beyond excited! I have to admit I was on the fence about having to cast a vote for good ol' McCain but if it's true, I might just be the first in line come November- I hope the 18 million Hillary supporters will join me. A WOMAN FOR VP! A REPUBLICAN WOMAN!!!
I decided to go with a Dr. Seuss theme (if you're familiar with Cat In the Hat you know about Thing 1 and Thing 2 which really could not be more appropriate for my children) and did everything red and blue- complete with a red and white top hat cake which, by the end of the party looked more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. As I have yet to locate my camera I borrowed...I can't upload my mom's camera (which had pics of the cake and the setup) but I was able to download pictures from another camera...these are about half way through.
Our first cake! Not quite sure what to do with it...
Starting to get it...
OH YEAH!!! Sugar is pretty limited (slash, non-existent) in our house soo an entire cake was a pretty big deal!!! We LOVED it!
The clean up crew...after the cake the highchairs had to be powerwashed. No amount of wipe-down would have cleaned these bad boys...
Opening presents with a little help from Mom and Dad. This was before Fin's meltdown...
On the babes' real birthday we had family over for a casual (hence the nakedness) dinner and gave each of them a present. It is a complete understatement to say that they are into music...you should see Fin dance! We got them a guitar and a keyboard that play (surprisingly) non-annoying music- ABBA, old school MJ, some Marroon 5- who knew Little Tykes was so hip?! Of course they had more fun ripping off the paper...
...and mom lost her camera, can't get video to upload and our computer says that the pictures I did manage to take are unrecognizable and, therefore, not downloadable. I will get things posted as soon as I can figure all of this technology nonsense out!
I am a true subscriber to the saying "cleanliness is next to Godliness." I love to clean. Seriously. It pains me to walk by a dusty end table or to see fingerprints on a glass vase. I'm not sure a day goes by where some type of cleaning product doesn't get pulled out of the closet. I also love to be organized. Ok, so I'm PSYCHO about being organized. I write lists and 'to-dos' like it's my job. Some nights I lay in bed going over what needs to be done, where we're going, what I'm getting. Yes, I know, I have a problem. Lately, however, I have relegated myself to complete surrender of my beautiful babies. I desperately try not to let the cobweb in the corner distract us from the fifth reading of Milly Moo Cow or those lint balls on the carpet interfere with our game of hide and seek. I have a dirty house and for the first time I don't care! My babies are almost 12 months old! One whole year old! They are getting so big so fast- Finley is walking like she has been doing it all her life, she has FOUR new teeth and can 'woof' like a dog; Parker is the sweetest boy, he kisses and hugs his sister and his favorite teddy all day long, he is so smart- he can figure out anything! He already knows how to open doors!, He too has new teeth coming in and is getting better at walking everyday- heaven forbid he should be outdone by his sister! So, you'll understand when you come over and we have some dust bunnies and dog hair in the corners...I'm busy being consumed by my incredible children!
