It has been so long since I last posted that my browser no longer recognizes/finishes when I type in the address! The house and our ever-mobile children are keeping us very very very busy! Our kitchen is almost functional- only two months since we moved in! We officially have new appliances, new cabinets, and new counter tops. What we don't have is plumbing under our sink, a soffit to hide the crazy going on above the cabinets and we are still stuck with our hot yellow original tile that covers 3/4 of the wall...ahh, someday. Finley is walking and Parker is fearless. He's not quite their yet but that child thinks he can do anything! He has no fears- strangers, pools, nothing. We have entered the full-on baby proof mode- my new appliances are no longer recognizable under the plastic covers that protect the knobs, oven locks, guards, drawer locks, toilet locks, the list goes on...We are becoming accustomed to Dad's crazy schedule and are finally settling in. I actually hung something on the walls today- hey, it's a start!
This was taken pre-drawer locks...you can only imagine how much fun picking up hundreds of baggies multiple times per day was. Locks were a necessity!
Not sure which is worse, pulling all the Ziplocs out or pulling everything out of the fridge...
Yup. Two months ago we moved in and we're still living off our floor..until Wednesday!!! Yay new furniture!!! I'll never be so happy to see a dresser in all my life!
We LOVE the pool. It has become a daily event...
My mom and I went to St. Louis Bread Co. (it's real name for all you Panera people out there) for dinner tonight (one of the few places you can get an organic kids meal) and I looked at her and told her what I wanted for Christmas. Now, usually when I start asking for things 5 months in advance they're pretty off the wall- I like to give my gift givers a chance to start saving... I looked at her and said, "Mom, you know what I'd really like for Christmas this year?" She rolled her eyes and with just a hint of 'oh-God-I-raised-this-child-to-be-a-spoiled-brat' in her voice she asked me "and what is that Brooke?" You know whenever a loved one uses your name in their reply, or really just in any sentence altogether, you've done (or are about to do) something they disprove of. My Christmas wish...a new vacuum cleaner. Yep, that's right folks I want a Hoover come December 25th. Well, a Dyson really but a vacuum nonetheless. This is the point where my mom stopped eating and started laughing out loud, "From Louis Vuitton to vacuum cleaners," she spurted out between laughs. I suppose you know you're grown up when you go from wanting ridiculous purses to housecleaning supplies...and dreaming about them months in advance!
Happy (late) Fourth! We had a fabulous day of parade watching and barbecuing at the new house! We can't wait until the babes are big enough for the fireworks- they are literally a block and a half away...

I have been hearing and reading that twins often lag behind in language skills (we still haven't heard a real word) so we have started teaching the babes sign language. Sounds kind of crazy but babies who sign tend to talk earlier and have larger vocabularies. We're trying to learn 'mother,' 'father,' 'eat,' 'drink,' and 'blankie' right now...we'll see how it goes. Both the babes are pseudo-walking- they can stand up by themselves (not holding on to anything) and can walk while holding something (they will walk along the wall or push something) but aren't quite ready to let go. Every once and awhile they will go short distances but we're lacking the confidence to really go for it. We are over baby food (as of about a month ago) and now only eat finger foods- soo nice that we can go to Bread Co. and order a kid's meal! Yay! We are starting to wean them from the formula. God I hate formula. They love the way whole milk tastes but aren't quite sure about the temperature. Still not so sure about sippy cups- we've tried about six different kinds. Are my kids going to be the four year olds that still tote around a bottle?!
I know, I know, I haven't been keeping up with my blogging- as many of you have informed me! Our lives have been beyond crazy! Did you know that on the list of top stressors in people's lives moving ranks above the loss of a spouse?! At first I didn't believe it...that was before we moved! Brian started work on Monday which means that I started life as a 'single mom.' Yes. It is that difficult. Yesterday I worked up a sweat on three different occasions- just giving baths is a serious undertaking. I told Brian when he got home (at 8pm) that my whole body ached and that my legs were killing me. He asked if I had worked out. HAAAA! My work out is toting the babes up and down the stairs, chasing them, dressing them, bathing them, feeding them, and the list goes on....When would I even fit a work out into my day? The babes now wake up at 5:45am. They think that's normal. And Brian doesn't get home until 8pm. Not a lot of time for a leisurely jog.
Anyways, I haven't been that good about pics but here are a few from the past month...
