YAY! The babes are finally mobile! They started with some strange looking scooting (often resulting in a backwards crab crawl) and are now moving quite smoothly from point A to point B. As ready as I was for this milestone it appears my house was not. I thought I had covered all the bases- covers for all the plugs, baby gates, cabinet locks... I suppose it didn't dawn on me that large silver bowls full of water would be such an attraction.

Looking forward to the day when the toilet becomes a place of play...

Learning "NO"

How do you teach an eight month old baby the word 'no?' Parker's latest is to pull his sister's hair...not just a gentle tug but an all out yank that often leads to her toppling over in tears. We say no (as seriously as we can) and he looks at us and then does it again. We've tried ignoring it- but that doesn't seem fair to Fin. We've tried distraction. All to no avail. I suppose this is just the beginning of the twin spats that are sure to be in our immediate future...

Trying to ignore what is going on....

Telling Parker 'no' right before he does it again...

His blatant disregard for parental authority...

For some reason we have twice as many pictures of Finley this month than we do of Parker! Poor little man...

...and we love laughing along!

We went from no teeth to two! Parker's bottom teeth are breaking through!!!

Summer!

We went on a walk to Walgreens to get trash bags and somehow ended up with a blow up pool. The babes loved it!

Last night the babes ate their dinner all by themselves...well almost. I had to pick the sweet potatoes off Fin's face and feed them to her...
They did pretty well though!

None of the pictures came out clear because they were both having so much fun under the sheet they wouldn't sit still for a photo op!

Last night Brian and I were watching the above mentioned movie (which, by the way, is fabulous) when I felt something kind of sticky in his hair. I asked him about it and he nonchalantly replied 'it's probably just some blood.' What?! How in the world did you get blood in your hair? Without skipping a beat he said, 'I hit my head on the fort.' Fort?! What fort? I had to pause the movie at this point and demand more information. Yeah, he says, I turned the kitchen table into a fort and slammed my head on one of the corners. At this point I couldn't contain myself- I was dying. Tears were rolling down my cheeks as I pressed play on the aptly named movie we were in the middle of...who would have guessed, a kitchen table fort.

All this house talk and I forgot about the babes! Still no action on the crawling front...Parker is a roller- I think he has to use less energy this way! Little Finley took her first steps (three) while we were in St. Louis!!! She is 7 and a half months old! I'm not sure whether to be super excited or super nervous...I keep telling people how excited I am for them to get mobile and now that it's happening I'm not sure I like it!

Busy Busy

The past few weeks have been a blur of goings on at the Meek household... Brian matched at Barnes (yay!) and we just got back to Indy from buying a house in St. Louis! Yes! We are now owners of the cutest little house in Webster Groves, Missouri! We sure know how to get things done- Brian came into town late Sunday night, saw the house on Monday, we put an offer in, it was accepted that night, had an inspection on Wednesday and left on Thursday...Whew! We will mis our house on 2324 N Pennsylvania but if anyone is interested in a 2bdrm, 2bath condo in downtown Indy it's for sale!!!

We close on June 2 and hope to move in shortly after...plenty of time for a Fourth of July party in our new backyard! We will soon be neighbors to all my high school girlfriends, including our fabulous realtor, who without her we would never have gotten this house! See you all in St. Louis!!!
